DETAILS

This case shows the details of a Pipe End Finisher supplied by Bronx/Taylor-Wilson to V&M Star in North America.

OBJECTIVE

Bronx/Taylor-Wilson was contracted by V&M Star Houston to supply two cut-off and end finishing units for their heavy-wall API pipe finishing line.

SOLUTION

V&M Star contracted BTW for this project because of the ruggedness, versatility and production of the BTW equipment. A major design feature that BTW incorporated into the design of this equipment was the ability to end finish pipes without the requirement of cutting each one, which drastically improved V&M Star's overall yield. The previous equipment that was in operation required V&M Star to crop every pipe prior to end finishing, which resulted in unnecessary scrap and required the usage of two separate machines. BTW's machine was also configured to provide numerous end finishes, including 5L line pipe, double cuts and square ends. The machine is designed to be extremely rugged and to handle arduous duties such as cutting and finishing pipe with a wall up to a 2" thick. The machine is also designed to cut pipe at speeds up to 500 fpm.
